How effective is DoxyPEP?
In clinical studies, DoxyPEP has shown promising results in reducing the risk of acquiring syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia by approximately two-thirds when taken within 24 to 72 hours. It’s important to note that the current efficacy data is based on research conducted with gay and bisexual cisgender men as well as transgender women. Ongoing research is being conducted for cisgender women, as recommended by the CDC.

When is the ideal time to take DoxyPEP?

Which STDs does DoxyPEP help prevent?

Does DoxyPEP have any side effects?
Common side effects of DoxyPEP are typically mild. If you experience stomach upset with antibiotics, taking them with food may alleviate the symptoms. It’s important to drink plenty of water when taking doxycycline to avoid esophagitis and to avoid lying down for 30 minutes afterwards. Some individuals may also experience increased sensitivity to the sun while taking doxycycline, so using sunscreen is recommended.
Is DoxyPEP FDA-approved?
Currently, DoxyPEP has not received official approval from the FDA and CDC, as they are reviewing available data and assessing its implications. However, the Department of Public Health in California (DPH) has recommended this treatment regimen for high-risk individuals, and many Infectious Disease Clinics have followed suit.
Is DoxyPEP safe for women?
Most of the research on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) has focused on men who have sex with men, as this population faces the highest risk of STIs. However, we understand that many women are concerned about the impact of antibiotics on vaginal health.

Very satisfied
Overall, I’m very satisfied with Shameless Care’s service. The test kit was more expensive that I would like but it’s worth it to keep my PCP and health insurance provider out of my business. Doing the kit in the privacy of my own home was very convenient. The only problem I had was getting the blood droplets on the test paper within the required circles. I had blood dripping everywhere and by the time I was finished, the bathroom counter was covered in blood. I’m sure as I become more comfortable with the procedure, I’ll get better at it.
Definitely will continue to use Shameless Care for all my STD prevention.

Regarding the price, we wish it could be lower too. Here’s some insider info: almost all at-home testing companies use the same laboratory. We could sell a basic testing kit like some of our competitors for $169, but it wouldn’t cover everything people need to be tested for. For example, those kits only test for genital gonorrhea and chlamydia. It’s as if they assume people don’t have oral sex or the company simply doesn’t care. If we only tested for genital gonorrhea and chlamydia like they do, we’d miss many positive cases.
Take mycoplasma genitalium, for another example. Testing for it alone costs us about $70! Most people don’t even know what mycoplasma genitalium is, so there’s no clear business reason to include it. Yet, it’s a must in our book! And guess what? We detect, diagnose, and treat mycoplasma all the time.
Anyone with a lower price isn’t testing for all the necessary items, unfortunately.
