Rugiet Ready Review: Is It Worth It?

Rugiet Ready Review: Is It Worth It?

We don't sell. We educate.

Weekly science about sex, delivered to your inbox.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

If you're asking whether you should purchase Rugiet Ready, you've probably already seen a tremendous amount of advertising for it. Their marketing is extremely effective.

But if you're asking if Rugiet Ready is right for you, then you're asking the wrong question.

The correct question is:

Should you be taking a compounded medication that contains apomorphine, sildenafil and tadalafil?

Because those are the three active ingredients in Rugiet Ready. (Rugiet Health)

You need to separate the brand from the medication.

I'm in the telehealth business. I could call 10 compounding pharmacies this afternoon and have no trouble finding pharmacies that would make us sublingual troches containing sildenafil, tadalafil and apomorphine.

In fact, I've done that very thing.

And we have one.

It's called Shameless Trio.

It contains the same three active ingredients.

These aren't three drugs invented by Rugiet. Sildenafil and tadalafil are established generic medications. Apomorphine was first synthesized in 1845.

Rugiet is a successful company and brand. Just understand that the brand isn't the drug.

What Does Apomorphine Actually Do?

Apomorphine is probably the ingredient here that you're least familiar with.

It's a dopamine agonist that has been used for several things during its very long history, including Parkinson's disease. It has also been used by itself as an ED medication.

In fact, an apomorphine ED medication called Uprima was authorized in Europe in 2001.

But apomorphine wasn't particularly impressive compared with sildenafil.

In one randomized crossover trial, erections firm enough for intercourse occurred in 85% of attempts with sildenafil compared with 44% with apomorphine. (PubMed)

So why put apomorphine into a compounded ED medication?

Because it works differently.

Sildenafil and tadalafil are PDE5 inhibitors that primarily work by increasing blood flow. Apomorphine is a dopamine agonist that acts on the central nervous system and can contribute to sexual arousal and the erectile response.

That sounds exciting.

Just don't get carried away.

The effects of apomorphine are often wildly exaggerated in telehealth advertising.

You've probably seen advertisements suggesting that apomorphine is going to make you incredibly horny.

I wouldn't expect that.

Based on the feedback we get from patients of Shameless Care, most men don't even notice that the apomorphine is helping.

And you wonder why we don't run ads.

That wouldn't make a great advertisement, would it?

But it's honest.

Apomorphine can help. There's legitimate science behind it. But don't expect it to fundamentally transform your sex drive.

To Rugiet's credit, I'm not seeing them make some of the more extreme apomorphine claims I've seen elsewhere.

What About Sildenafil and Tadalafil?

These probably need much less explanation.

Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra. Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis.

Both are PDE5 inhibitors and both are available generically.

Sildenafil has a shorter duration of action. Tadalafil stays in the body considerably longer.

Combining them can potentially provide characteristics of both, but more medication isn't automatically better medication. Using two PDE5 inhibitors also means potential side effects from that drug class, which can include headache, flushing, congestion, indigestion and dizziness.

A licensed clinician should determine whether this combination is appropriate for you.

Now the Brand Matters

Remember when I said you need to separate the medication from the brand?

Well, now the brand matters.

And this is where Rugiet and Shameless Care are fundamentally different.

Rugiet offers 30-day and 90-day subscription memberships. (Rugiet Health)

We hate subscriptions.

If you like the idea of your credit card being billed every month or every three months, even if you simply forgot to pause or cancel, then Rugiet may be a great choice.

We would never do that.

You can order medication from Shameless Care, never think about us again for the rest of your life, and you will never be billed again.

Rugiet says its subscription refills are automatically billed according to the schedule selected by the customer. (Rugiet Health)

We Also Believe You Should See the Price First

We also believe you should know what something costs before giving a company your private health information.

At Shameless Care, our prices are right on the website. Rugiet's pricing is on their website too.

The difference is that you can see our prices without giving us any information whatsoever.

When I personally went through Rugiet's process to find out what their pricing was, I had to provide information about myself, including medical information, before I could see the pricing being offered to me.

We don't like that.

You only need to give Shameless Care your medical information if you actually want to pursue treatment.

We hate subscriptions, and we like transparent pricing.

What Does Shameless Trio Cost?

Full disclosure: Shameless Care is a competitor. We offer Shameless Trio, a compounded medication containing sildenafil, tadalafil and apomorphine.

At the time of this article:

12 doses: $145, or $12.08 per dose

24 doses: $185, or $7.70 per dose

No subscription.

I'm not going to list Rugiet Ready's price here because their pricing can change.

Instead, I went through Rugiet's process myself and recorded it. You can watch the video below and see exactly what I was offered and what it cost at the time.

At the time I made the video, Shameless Trio was substantially less expensive than the Rugiet Ready option I was offered.

That's really all there is to it.

Rugiet Ready contains sildenafil, tadalafil and apomorphine.

So does Shameless Trio.

If that combination is appropriate for you, compare the options and choose the company you prefer.
